My Husband and I held our wedding reception at the Sharnbrook Hotel in May 2008 after having been married abroad. It was quite a large affair with 130 people coming for a sit down meal. Our event included a drinks reception, a 3 course sit down meal with wine and champagne, speeches and a disco.
From the first venue visit, to the day after the reception (having stayed in the hotel), we were greeted with genuine, warm hospitality that only comes from having an event at a family run venue. Having said that, the service from beginning to end was both professional and relaxed, a feat not usually accomplished by most venues these days!
During the run up to the event, as per usual I was the rather excitable bride to be, Chiro from the Sharnbrook Hotel was a great Co-coordinator who was very calm, practical and open to our ideas. Most of the other venues we visited seemed rather restricted on what you could do in the venue (food, timings, layout etc…) however this wasn’t the case at Sharnbrook.
All our requests were met enthusiastically and positively, such as wanting to show both our wedding video and wedding photos on separate screens throughout the reception, being very specific about table layout and last minute changes. They really made it easy for us to plan and enjoy our very special day.
The food was truly lovely and it was served freshly and promptly, even with our large guest numbers. The house wine was also a great addition and very much enjoyed by all!
The hotel upstairs can accommodate a good number of guests, especially those travelling from out of town. We were lucky enough to sleep in one of the suites which was very luxurious and grand, especially considering the reasonable room rates. Our friends and family stayed in the normal rooms which too were impressively spacious and again much more luxurious than you would expect for the price.
The whole venue itself is very cleanly designed and very well maintained. There is beautiful marble flooring throughout and a classy neutral backdrop on which you can really stamp your own creative mark if required.
Photos weren’t a problem either. There is a large grassy area outside that in summer months should be full with flowers and a nice little forest area with some lovely greenery. There is also a lovely set of stairs with some statues on that made a nice little posing area. Inside the hotel, there is also a large windowed corridor on the 1st floor that made for a beautiful art deco type backdrop.
Overall we loved our experience with the Sharnbrook hotel and won’t hesitate in using it in the future for large gatherings. In fact some of our guests have returned since in some capacity (parties, New Years Eve) and not only have the parties been great, they’ve also remembered us and our families! You don’t get that very often these days!
I couldn’t recommend this venue enough; it was a very enjoyable, stress free wedding reception venue.
