My husband and I married here and had our reception afterwards in August 2007. We chose this venue as we had ‘dated’ quite a lot here so it held special memories. In addition to that, it truly is a wonderful setting. The gardens are beautifully maintained and were a real feature of our photographs. You can also have Roseberry Toppin in the background which looks good. It was great to have exclusive use of the hall and gardens for the day as I had been to previous weddings at other venues where there had been several other receptions going on at the same time and, in my opinion, it took something away from the magic of the day.
The room itself was quite tight in my big dress but manageable for everyone else!
The service was faultless and the wedding coordinator was really helpful in the run up to the big day.
Because we got married in the room we were having the reception in, the staff had to quickly turn the room around for the meal. I was worried the tables might look a bit slapdash but they were beautiful and everyone ended up in the correct seat and received the correct meal! Food and wine were both excellent, it was lovely to look round and see our guests all happily tucking in!
Due to the number of guests we had (80) we needed to use the adjoining room. This bears round a corner so you can’t always see all of your guests (a great feature if you have someone you’ve invited under duress!) We got round this ‘problem’ by doing our speeches before the meal on the sweeping staircase outside the room. It was a good spot as it meant the speakers were raised up slightly so everyone could see them and everyone was included in the moment. It was also good as it meant the best man could herd everyone straight in for their meal when the speeches were done!
We were lucky with the weather so our guests could wander the grounds in between the ceremony and the reception and after the meal. I don’t know what would have happened if we had all had to stay in the hall as there really isn’t that much space. It would be fine for a smaller wedding I think.
Our evening reception was a BBQ and chocolate fountain with live band. Again, I was worried about space but it was fine. We had the chocolate fountain in one room, band in the other and BBQ outside. This meant there was something for everyone. Our older guests remained at tables in the other rooms and people who wanted to dance and enjoy the band had the room to do so.
The bedrooms were fantastic and two nights in the bridal suite were included in the price.
There were other services available like a marquee for larger numbers but this was at additional cost. If that’s the kind of wedding you want perhaps this is not the venue for you.
If you want a unique, intimate, private wedding that feels as if you could be in your own, very grand, home (I wish!) then I would recommend Pinchinthorpe Hall. It will always have a special place in my heart!
