Number two son and Executive Chef, Stuart, has deservedly won many accolades for this hotel with a rating of two AA star rosettes. He trained at the Michelin starred Chester Grosvenor and Kensington Palace Restaurants in London as well as spending time at The Hotel du Goyen located in France. All food is prepared using fresh, locally sourced produce and given that extra edge with fresh herbs, fruit and vegetables from the hotel’s very own gardens.

Weddings at Rowton Castle, Shrewsbury

A castle has stood in the grounds at Rowton for nearly eight hundred years. The building has seen many changes and alterations over the centuries but has remained primarily a family home.

It has now been transformed into a luxury country hotel, retaining the splendour of yesteryear whilst providing the facilities anticipated by the most discerning of guests.

Rowton Castle is a beautiful 17th century, grade 2 listed building, set in 17 acres of tranquil grounds, six miles west from the historic town of Shrewsbury. We are the perfect venue for a prestigious function, or a few days away from it all.

We are licensed to perform Wedding Ceremonies in The Cardeston Suite and The Georgian Dining Room.

The Cardeston Suite is a magnificent room in the gothic style with a handsome fireplace and stunning carved pelmets and will accommodate a maximum of 110 people to share your special day.

The Georgian Dining Room is perfect for a small intimate wedding accommodating a maximum of 10 people. It is decorated in the taste of the eighteenth century with painted and gilded panelling.

As well as one of these fabulous rooms, we provide our ceremonial red carpet and co-ordinate your personal music chosen for your entrance, signing and exit. Alternatively you may wish to arrange live musicians such as a string quartet, harpist or pianist.

Walcot Hall offers an ideal setting for a country wedding. It is an historic Georgian building, approached by a tree-lined drive, overlooking a mile-long lake and situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty. You can have the use of this venue for two days in which to prepare and host your wedding celebration.

The hamlet of Goldstone is in the parish of Cheswardine, just south of Market Drayton. The earliest recorded mention was in 1180, when Alan de Goldestan was assessed one shilling for two acres of oats. The family name crops up several times during the 13th century, and then the family of Gouldston of Goldstone, GENT. appears in the register.
Today, Goldstone Hall is a three star country house hotel with a couple of rosettes for its culinary comforts. Under the affable gaze of John Cushing and his family, you may enjoy the quiet, relaxed and stimulating atmosphere of one of the best hotels in Shropshire. And probably more than once.
We specialise in creating individually designed weddings – each a unique event & not one which can be standardised into one category.

We are licensed to hold Civil Ceremonies.
The walled garden is a great location for the photographer. Guests can mingle & enjoy the canapés on the lawn or in the elegant Green drawing room.
For the wedding breakfast, whether a formal meal or a finger buffet, Head Chef John Thompson & his team will bring their particular care & attention to bear ensuring a function meal is in fact not that, but rather a meal carefully crafted as if for one or two.

We have various options for numbers with our main dining room comfortably seating seventy. The adjoining orangery allows this to increase to over one hundred. For larger wedding we own a marquee with matching linings & an efficient heating system for which there is no additional charge.
