Chettle House is a place of enormous character, charm and interest. Guests are immediately struck by the warm and intimate atmosphere, and the feeling that Chettle House is still a much cherished family home. The exclusivity of the venue for your special day, combined the historic splendour and magical gardens, makes Chettle House one of Dorset’s most sought after venues.

The Oak Entrance Hall, with its sweeping oak staircase and fine family portraits, offers an impressive setting for a drinks reception and a stunning backdrop for photographs. The elegant Drawing Room, which overlooks the gardens and adjoining countryside, accommodates 150 people for a canapé reception and seats up 80 guests for the wedding breakfast. Wedding receptions for up to 400 guests are held in a marquee on an elevated croquet lawn from where the house provides a splendid backdrop.

Intimate church weddings and blessings (up to 80 seated and 15 standing) are hosted in St Mary’s Church, which borders the gardens.

Weddings at The Italian Villa, Poole

The Italian Villa at Compton Acres offers clients an elegant and stylish setting for celebrations such as weddings, bar mitzvahs, dinner dances etc.
Comprised of three function suites arranged over three floors the Villa has a lift, which provides for full disabled access. All suites have independent heating and air conditioning, built in sound systems, radio microphones and broadband. The Verona and Siena suites also have built in audio visuals screens. Each suite can be hired individually, or alternatively the complete Italian Villa can be hired exclusively for the whole day, part day or evening. A few select days of the year are set aside for the exclusive hire of the Italian Villa and the entire grounds and gardens of Compton Acres.

Set within the beautiful gardens and grounds of Compton Acres, the elegant Italian Villa is licensed to perform Marriages and Civil Partnership ceremonies.

Available for exclusive hire the Villa offers couples a stunningly romantic setting in which to celebrate their special occasion. Combined with direct access into the spectacular Italian Garden, the Villa can cater for small, intimate wedding receptions for forty, or can provide a relaxed setting for up to several hundred guests when using the whole Italian Garden.

The Crown Hotel rests on the edge of the river Stour in the rich heartland of Dorset. This elegant 18th century coaching house rose from the ashes of the original Crown Inn following the disastrous fire of 1731.

Kingston Maurward House has four elegant rooms licensed to hold civil marriage ceremonies allowing all the celebrations to be held at one venue. We are pleased to cater for both wedding ceremonies and receptions on any day of the week.

Our waterfront location makes Thistle Poole a popular setting for weddings. We have a licence to conduct civil ceremonies: our Jolliffe Room will seat up to 60 guests to witness your big moment, then all stay on for an evening reception, with the option to move out into the patio if the weather’s good (which of course it always is in Poole). Our first-floor Harbour View Restaurant has been awarded a coveted AA Rosette, and can accommodate up to 130 guests for a wedding breakfast, or 200 for an evening buffet. It’s also perfect for private dining and school events, such as end-of-term prom nights, with its spectacular views over Poole Harbour to Brownsea Island ensuring it’s an occasion to remember.

The largest room we have to offer is the HV Restaurant situated on the first floor, which can cater for up to 200 guests for an informal buffet and is the perfect venue for a wedding. We also have the Jolliffe suite, situated on the ground floor which can accommodate 70 people for an informal evening function. This room is also licensed for civil ceremonies for a maximum of 60 guests and is a firm favourite as it offers stunning views across the Harbour.
